I love rosettes

Last weekend I discovered a love for the rosettes you can cut using the Cricut Artiste cartridge. They are so much fun to make, and even more fun to create cards and other projects with them.

Here are a few cards I made:

Card: Sweet Life

This was the Stamp of the Month in July and I just love the images in this set. When I first saw it, I knew it would be the perfect set for colouring using a technique a learned some time ago called Gamsol Magic. Here in Australia, I was able to get something equivalent to Gamsol, called Artists' Mineral Spirit for Oil Colour. I was able to get it and the blending stumps at Riot. I used my collection of Derwent pencils to do the colouring. Here are the results:

Card: Today you are You

I saw a tri-fold card on Pinterest and just had to have a go at making one myself.
I altered the measurements a little - first I started with a card stock base of 6" x12".
I scored it at 2", 4", 8" and 10" along the long edge (across the short width).
Then you have to make two cuts from the 2" score line to the 10" score line. One cut is at 1.5", the other at 4.5".
The printed paper is cut as follows:
2 pieces are 1.75" x 5.75" (the giraffe paper in my example)
4 pieces are 1.75" x 1.25" (yellow print)
2 pieces are 1.75" x 2.75" (grey print)
2 pieces are 3.75" x 1.25" (grey print)
1 piece 3.75"x 2.75" (orange stripe)
For the front piece you need two pieces of card stock, one 3"x4.5" and another 2.75" x 4.25"
The sentiment in the middle is on a piece of card stock 3.25" x 2"

Layout - Friends

Ahh, the sweet bliss of being on holidays! Yesterday, after spending the morning enjoying the sun, I had some time to play with stamps and create a layout. And here is the result:

The Washi Wonder stamp set is fast becoming one of my favourites! It was so much fun creating my own custom-made patterned paper.

Let's Celebrate

Historic Clunes

I was inspired to create a layout today and the photos that came to hand were of a day trip my Mum and I did to Clunes. The photos worked best with some of the prints from the Babycakes B&T Duos - a surprising paper choice for photos of old architecture. It just goes to show, even though a product is designed for one purpose (in this case, baby photos), they may also work well with completely different photos.

Happy Cards

After a long week at my day job (I'm a teacher), I enjoy relaxing in my craft room creating. Today, I especially needed to recharge my batteries, so I made these three cards.

Cricut Collections

This week my Cricut Expression 2 arrived. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to play with it right away as I had work. Today I sat down and spent a few hours playing - and I am in love! This machine makes creating just so much easier!

Earlier this week, I did have a chance to start a 3D project using the Cricut. This "bag" is just one of the many 3D objects you can make with the Cricut Artiste Collection. The flowers are also from this collection.

The stamped banner is just one of the stamp images that are paired with this Cricut collection.

Today, I made three cards, using some more stamp images that match the Cricut collection.
